All About Me album

Ginger, at My Sisters Scrapper, made an adorable Disney mini envelope album.  I followed her tutorial and made one of my own.  I liked the format so well, I used it as an excuse to cull some of my paper hoarding.  

This album is made using papers from Stampin Up's retired Class Act papers from their old Simply Scrappin line...yep, that paper is probably more than 5 years old and moved to three different states!

Colors include: Basic Black, Basic Grey, Whisper White, Crushed Curry, Bashful Blue, and Real Red.  

All the rounded flaps are cards that come out of the album and every page features a flip of pocket with extra storage inside.  I made cards for many of the pockets where school pics or memories can be stored.

Disney's Up inspired SN@P album cover

This album is made to mimic Ellie's book from the Disney movie Up.  I love the whole story and we are a Disney-crazy family so it seemed like a truly appropriate book for my hubby and I to share our adventures.

I purchased a red SN@P album from Michael's.  It comes with three chipboard tabbed section dividers, a few coordinated sheets and clear divided photo pockets.  I picked up an extra set of photo pockets.  I will show what I did to the inside once the album is completed.  

After I set the included items aside, I used my Crop-a-dile Big Bite to punch the holes in the left side of the cover in the red section.  I used a couple of Mickey Mouse eyelets to fill the holes and then threaded the eyelets with thin parachute cord, tying a bow.  I used a little dab of liquid glass to keep the bow from moving around or untying.  I found this great distressed paper that kinda has an aged leather feel from Hobby Lobby in the specialty paper section.  I left around an inch on three of the sides, butting the fourth side up against the red binding, and attaching it with mod podge.  I papered the inside with a nice black print.  

After the paper was dry, I used a gold sharpie and a ruler to make the rectangle, then a roll of painter tape for the curves.  I used some scrap Early Espresso textured cardstock to make the corners.  I used Tim Holtz chipboard letters, colored with Stampin' Up craft inks, and the edges inked with Tim Holtz distress inks in Vintage Photo.  NOTE: craft inks take much longer to dry but are archival safe, so be patient, and don't the edges until the craft ink is thoroughly dry.  I attached the letters with liquid glass (AKA Crystal Effects, Dimensional Magic, Glossy Accents).  I found the western hemisphere online, punched out, attaching with tombow mono and a little bit of newsprint washi tape.  The finishing touch, a grape soda bottle cap embellishment.  (If you know the movie, it has a very special meaning!)

u & i

This is my daughter with her BFF.  The two of them are always hamming it up for the camera.  I am entering it into a pagemaps embellishment challenge. 

The layout is from a sketch offered for the challenge.  The base is Bazzill Core Color in bubblegum pink with layers of Bo Bunny.  These are all scraps from a album class I took a couple of years ago.  The brown is also Bazzill.  I used my nestabilities scallop circle in SU Certainly Celery.  I used a square punch to make the notches on the flags and my machine to add stitches.  The border is from Martha Stewart.  The title is stamped using sketchy font from Autumn Leaves in Timber Brown Staz-On.  The "&" is self-adhesive chipboard from Basic Grey and is lightly sponged in Soft Sky ink.  The images are TGF Miss Anya Lounge and Special Autumn, colored with copic markers and mounted with dimensionals.  The photo is also mounted on dimensionals so that the tag slides behind.  The tag is a scrap of the matching Bo Bunny with a tab made from the decorative label punch and fixed with a wide eyelet.  I used the polka dots embossing folder for the strip at the bottom right and the tab punch for the date plaque.  The chocolate flag has a stamp from 7 Gypsies, stamped in Whisper White craft ink.  Thanks for looking!  April

Xmas 2009

I know, two posts in one day - whoo hoo!  Well, I finally have all three kids up to the start of 2010 in their scrapbooks!  That is a feat, let me tell you.  Now, I have 2 1/2 years to catch up times 3 kiddos.  Yea, good times. 

The LO is based on a May 2011 pagemap.  The base is Whisper White with layers of DCWV Christmas stack and Wild Wasabi.  The border is Martha Stewart.  I made the flags from scraps and used a square punch to make the notches.  Once they were in place, I used my sewing machine to add a little texture.  (My son's book is getting a little thick, so I am shying away from too many layers or heavy embellishments.)  I used the coordinating DCWV chipboard set to make the title.  It was very quick and easy to assemble.  Looking at it now, I wish I had some cream cardstock for the base or maybe I should have distressed it a bit with some ink.  Oh well, we always want to change something, right?  Thanks for looking!  April

1st Degree Black Belt

This is when my son earned his first degree black belt in Taekwondo.  The LO is based on a December 2011 pagemaps.  The base is Basic Black with layers of Moxxie and Whisper White.  The sticker border, dragon, and figure is from Karen Foster Designs.  The title is from Say It With Stickers.  I used the SMASH label maker for the subtitle.  The title and journalling are mounted on nestabilities.  Simply sweet...thanks for looking!  April

Tiger Cub

Yay, I am making some headway today!  This is from 2009 and is my son's first year as a Tiger Cub Scout.  The paper is made for Boy Scouts and the words I used are cut from the Bobcat sheet.  I used my sewing machine to make straight and zig zag stitches in random places.  I used my acrylic license plate letters from Autumn Leaves to stamp the year.  I think it adds interest, as well as some texture to a basic layout design.  Thanks for looking!  April

What a Face

Here's another catch up page for my middle child from 2009.  He makes the silliest faces and I couldn't help but capture one of them.  The LO is inspired from a November 2004 pagemaps.  The paper is a primary green base with some cute tie paper I found a craft store several years ago.  The red ribbon is tied like a tie and adhered with zots glue dots.  The title and journalling is printed on vellum and placed with small red brads.  The embellishment is a scrap of Whisper White cardstock with layers of navy and a scrap of the patterned paper.  Thanks for looking!  April

Halloween '08

Still playing catch up with the kids scrapbooks.  This is my son as Optimus Prime from the Transformers.  Layout is based on a pagemap.  Colors are Only Orange with layers of Moxxie and Recollections violet.  Accents are the coordinating Moxxie stickers, brads, and SMASH label maker.  I used the drippy goo punch for the border strip.  Quick and easy.  Thanks for looking!  April

Shoe-tying 101

I thought I caught every moment of my oldest kid's life...I was wrong!  I never got a pic of her learning to tie her own shoes.  I was so tickled when I was searching though a stack of my son's pics to catch up his book and found this...

The layout is based on a pagemaps from March 2012.  The base is Whisper White with layers of School Cool DP, Real Red, and a photo-copied piece of lined paper.  The stip of writing guide was bought at my local scrap store before we moved.  There is a single zig-zag stitch done on my sewing machine.  The title is cut from the open book nestabilities die then the lettering is from the Martha Stewart double-sided sticky alphabet, coated in red glitter.  The shoe stickers are from Jolene's.  The journalling is made with the newest label tool from SMASH by K & Co.

Third Grade

I needed a quick scrap fix, as well as clean out some of my odds and ends, so I figured I would catch up some of my kids school pages.  This is my middle child's 3rd Grade page.  Papers are from my LSS and the ribbon is from Michael's.  The sticker coordinates with the red background.  Nothing too fancy or over the top.  Thanks for looking!  April

Sixth Grade

I can't believe my oldest is in Sixth Grade!  It seems like yesterday she was just learning to walk.  Anyway, her fall pics are already back because they needed them for their school IDs. 

The paper was found at my local scrap shop...what's cool is it is two-sided with then next grade on the back.  This one is 5th/6th.  I cut the photo to 8x8 with mats 8 1/2x8 1/2 and 9x9.  I used a zig zag stitch around the outermost layer, then tied a blue polka dot ribbon sewn with a safety pin charm and attached with tacky tape.  Last, I punched a decorative label punch and wrote the school and year before mounting with dimensionals.  Super quick and easy.  Thanks for looking!  April

Matt's Many Hats

Yea, still majorly behind on the scrapbooking.  I know I should take a break from the challenges or find more hours of the day to hide in my scrap nook.  This is my youngest and his recent obsession with hats...everyone's hats. 

The base is SU's Chocolate Chip textured cardstock with Bo Bunny's Shabby Princess Pep Rally papers.  I just love it and have used it several times.  The border near the top is Martha Stewart.  The embellishments are printed copies of Dr. Seuss's 500 Hats of Bartholmew Cubbins and TGF's Just for You Oliver colored in copic markers and mounted with dimensionals.  I took a couple of the photos and matted and mounted them on dimensionals to add interest.  The title is Cricut's Doodletype and coordinating Bo Bunny stickers.  I wanted the LO to looked like a ecclectic collage so it seems a bit random and cluttered.  Sorry for the glare, but it was the best one I got.  Thanks for looking!  April

My Lucky Charm

I have been going a bit nuts on the challenges and falling even further behind on my scrapping.  This is my daughter wearing her super cute Lucky the Leprachaun shirt for St. Patty's day.  I found this great paper at a LSS in Iowa City and have been sitting on it for ages. 

I just pulled scraps of green I had sitting around to fill out the page.  It is sporatic and whimsical and that is why I love it.  I don't think I would have normally paired these papers together, but the randomness makes me think of a quilt pieced from scraps and it gives it a bit of charm.  Title is stamped with Cactus Green Staz-On using CTMH's giggle lowercase and the bling is My Big Idea.  I used a dark green journalling pen to give it some shadow.  The punch is Martha Stewart and the ribbon is from Michael's.  Thanks for looking!  April

let's bowl

This is from my youngest first trip to bowl. It is inspired from June 2011 pagemaps. It was a 8 1/2x11 LO, but I altered it to fit the 12x12 format I use.

Base is Bo Bunny back to basics, layered with a sheet of More Mustard cut to 10x10. Then I used scraps of Bo Bunny Christmas papers I used to make a album a couple of years ago. The stripped piece at the bottom, was a scrap that I used one of my Martha Steward border punches, then cut the curve on either side. I printed the pins on cardstock from a yahoo image, then punched the balls using a 1 3/8" circle punch on Basic Black. Then, I used a white gel pen to add details to the balls. I sewed some green polka dot ribbon to the bottom, arranging the pins and putting a couple on dimensionals. I used a scrap piece to punch the tab. The title is rub-ons and Basic Grey chipboard letters inked in a retired SU craft ink. Thanks for looking! April

Joe

My youngest was Joe from Blue's Clues for Halloween, so instead of a halloween themed LO, I did a Blue's Clues centered one.

It is based on an August 2008 pagemaps. The background is Blue's pawprints and Marina Mist with a Blue stamped in Versamark, on a Green Galore base. I used retired Bold Brights (Yo Yo Yellow, Brilliant Blue, Green Galore, Only Orange, Lovely Lilac, etc.) scraps to make the squares from Joe's shirt. I used the 1 3/8" square punch from SU to make the blocks. The tag and characters came from the same coordinating sticker sheet, just mounted on paper, then dimensionals. I mounted and cut the tag, then added a large eyelet. I found a leftover keychain to make the tag hanger. The chipboard letters are Basic Grey. The Blue sticker, Tickety, and Mr. Salt/Mrs. Pepper are from a dimensional sticker set. Thanks for looking! April

Bubbles

Here is my LO inspired by November 2008 pagemaps. Base is SU's textured Marina Mist. The B&T papers are open stock papers from Michaels. I cut the title with Cricut's Alphalicious with regular Marina Mist, then ran it through the Cuttlebug with the dotted embossing folder, then used the Xyron sticker maker to adhere to page. I then ran it through my sewing machine. I made the bubbles by using liquid glass on clear film from the dollar acryllic sets you get at Michael's. Once dry, I used a punch to clean the edges. (I tried pealing them off, but they cracked or split.) I made the bubble wand by punching a 3/4" circle, then a 1" circle, repeating with 1" and 1 1/4", then cutting a straight piece from the remaining. Next, I ran it through the sticker maker. Once on the page, I used the liquid glass to make it look wet and add drips. I also ran the bubbles through the sticker maker, then applied. Thanks for looking! April

LO is inspired from November 2008 pagemaps. Base cardstock was Michael's open cardstock. Animal print is from DCWV pad. Martha Stewart border and corner punch used on animal mat. Title cut from Cricut's San Serif on Night of Navy and Old Olive from Stampin' Up! Scalloped border punch in Night of Navy from SU! and Notebook spiral from EK Success. Journalling is printed in Batik Regular font. Ribbon from Michael's and SU! Giraffe border cardstock sticker finishes the photo. Thanks for looking! April

Miracles in Motion

We are lucky to have a Miracles in Motion location about 30-45 mintues from our home. My youngest has developmental delays and sensory processing issues, so his physical therapist recommended it. (This year he has graduated from hippo therapy to theraputic riding.)

This is inspired from CTMH's Cherish book. It's the one called "Filling Spaces". Papers are from Hobby Lobby and Michael's. I used the faux leather technique. You wet your paper with a sprayer, then crumple into a ball. Next open the ball and press flat, iron on medium with no steam. When dry, you ink the pages so the crinkles stand out. I used chestnut Roan cat's eye chalk and CTMH Brown Bag ink. I switched the title and journal blocks and rotated the LOs. Also, the big blocks were supposed to have 5x7s so I double matted to help fill the empty spaces. The little buckle is from Spare Parts at Hobby Lobby. I cut the pocket myself from left over paper and ran it through the sewing machine. I used some hemp twine to make the lasso and embellish. I didn't have the little gold stars, so I used staples for a more rustic look. I also added a little ribbon for texture, since I skipped the horseshoes. Thanks for looking! April

Zoo

This is the first trip to the zoo for my youngest.

The LO is inspired from CTMH's Cherish book. The animal print paper is from JoAnn. The chipboard letters are from Hobby Lobby's Spare Parts. I used white acrylic (a very think layer) and then inked with a olive dew drop. The square "buttons" are actually cardstock sticker tiles from a W R Memory Keepers set. I used a poker to make holes for the needle to pass through. Ribbon is from Michaels. I used little safety pins, a tiny button, and a frame hinge on the journalling. Journalling is Batik Regular font. Thanks for looking! April
