With teens, our go to birthday gift is a movie rental kit.  We put in a gift card to our local rental place, popcorn, and their favorite candies.  My son was invited to a Harry Potter themed party and insisted we put together a HP themed movie kit.  There are several pics but not everything in the kit is photographed.  We included a homemade "Liquid Luck" potion, packed in a gemstone shaped box, a decorated bottle of Butterbeer, a paper haystack filled with candy, Hershey's kisses decorated as Dementor Kiss-Aways, boxed candy wrapped in Honeydukes wrappers, an origami Howler (complete with Mrs. Weasley's rant), and several other surprises.  The kids went nuts when it came time to open it and it was the hit of the party.  Every kid told Alex they would definitely look forward to their birthday gifts!

Winter Wonderland

This is for Pixie Dust Studios Anything Goes challenge. 

The base is Whisper White with layers of Whisper White and shimmery snowflake paper from The Paper Company Studio.  The border is from Martha Stewart.  The ribbon is some sheer organza from Michael's and the bow is held in place by a SU retired star brad.  The image is PDS Sugar Plum Fairy and is colored in copics, and layered at the head, bodice and front ballet slipper with dimensionals.  The sentiment is from a holiday acrylic set from JoAnn Fabrics in Jet Black Staz-On.  Thanks for looking!  April

Boo 2 You!

This is for Mojo Monday #257 and Pixie Dust Studio's Boo challenges.

The base is Old Olive with layers of retired SU halloween paper, Pumpkin Pie and Basic Black.  The border is Martha Stewart's web and the image is mounted on a scalloped circle from nestabilities.  The image is PDS Pixie Boo and is colored with copics.  The ghosts were colored a second time, but out, frosted with clear glitter for a more translucent look and mounted with dimensionals.  Pixie has a orange satin bow.  The ribbon is a satin checkered ribbon from Michael's.  I hand wrote the sentiment and trimmed the notch, before curling the end.  Thanks for looking!  April

Good Witch or Bad Witch?

This is for Pixie Dust Studio Halloween challenge. 
The base is kraft with layers of basic black and 7 Gypsies Venice papers.  I distressed and ripped the top layer for interest.  The strip is a scrap of matching paper and mounted on a piece of black that is punched with the Martha Stewart web border, then wrapped with some jute twine.  The base layers are sprayed with Silver Foil smooch spritz.  The clock is made with the Tim Holtz weathered clock die and is spritzed with Emerald smooch that has a golden sheen.  The image is PDS Good Witch or Bad Witch with it's matching sentiment, colored with copic, and cut with nestibilities classic circle.  I inked it in Tim Holtz distress inks in burlap, tea dye, and vintage photo.  It is mounted on a scalloped circle, before being mounted with dimensionals.  I also cut a second pair of the shoes and coated them in red glitter.  (Gotta pay homage to Wicked and The Wizard of Oz, of course!)

So, I finished it, and then found these great vintage die cuts from K & Co...oh yea, the bike!  Yea, I added it then had to go back and take another picture.  I am not sure which I prefer, but it looks good both ways.  Thanks for looking!  April

Pixie goes to School

Like all parents, I am doing the happy dance cuz my kids are all officially in school...even the baby of our family!  This card is for Pixie Dust Studios Back to School challenge.

The card base is snow white with layers of black, sunny yellow, and brick red.  I used my new brick embossing folder that I tapped with Whisper White craft ink to fill in the grooves.  The border punch is from EK Success.  I decided to go "green" by using scraps of school paper and a die in my odds and ends bucket.  The journal tag is from a school self adhesive die set I got on clearance at Michael's and the sticker is a left over from the Preschool stickers I have.  The image is PDS Pearl of Wisdom, colored in copic with touches of white gel pen.  I wanted to give her a funky, Magic Schoolbus kind of teacher.  Thanks for looking!  April

This is for Pixie Dust Studio's food and Mojo Monday #256 challenges.

The base is kraft with layers of cocoa and baking print from Paper Studio.  The flags are cut from scraps of bubblegum pink, robin egg blue, and cracked green.  The pink is embossed with the Cuttlebug jumbo embossing folder polka dots.  The image is PDS Sweet Love, colored in copics with touches of Saukura Stardust gel pen, and mounted on the open book nestabilities on dimensionals.  I added a little punched heart and the printed sentiment.  Thanks for looking!  April

Pretty in Pink challenge

This is for Pixie Dust Studios Pixie Flix "Pretty in Pink" challenge.  Who doesn't love a John Hughs movie?  While "Pretty in Pink" is not my favorite (Sixteen Candles!), it still a good movie.  Any seriously, who doesn't love Ducky? 
The base is winter white from DCWV with layers of Recollections Bubblegum Pink and heat embossed with a lips stamp I found in the dollar bin at Michaels.  The cut outs on the card are from nestabilities.  The heart border is from Martha Stewart.  The image is PDS Brittney Loves and is colored with copic markers.  I picked her because she is quirky like Ducky and wouldn't she make a cute Duckette?  I had to pay homage to Molly Ringwald, so her hair is red.  The letters are done in pink glitter.  She is cut with nestabilities deckled rectangle and mounted on dimensionals over a doily and lacy scalloped circle.  I also stamped and embossed a couple of lips on scrap white paper for the inside and outside.  I used a felt heart from Jenni Bowlin Studio and the punched heart from SU.  I did a cute little writing like you would find carved in a tree for their names, but inside I added "Say YES to Ducky!"  I added a little bling to the lips on the cover of the card and a pair of lips on the blank inside.  Thanks for looking!  April

Vintage mouse

Well, I got involved with working on my card and (of course) I missed my deadline.  This was for Pixie Dust Studio Attic Challenge. 

The base is kraft with layers of 7 Gypsies 6x6 vintage stack and Basic Black.  I used nestabilities to make the interior frames, after stitching around the edges of the layers.  The top layer is mounted with dimensionals to give it a shadowbox effect.  The image is PDS Harvest Mouse, colored with copic, then masked and trimmed with Tim Holtz distress ink in burlap and vintage photo.  Each corner has a mini silver brad.  The sentiment is from 7 Gypsies, stamped in Versamark on a scrap of coordinating paper and embossed with metallic silver powder.  I trimmed the sentiment and mounted it on Basic Black decorative label punch and pearls.

Me Time SMASH

So, I spend a lot of time making pages that features things I like, but I don't do many about me specifically.  This is one of those times that feature me.  I am entering it into Pixie Dust Studio's Spa-color challenge. 

So the colors we have to include are pink, blue & light green.  I used those in the image and carried it through the other embellishments.  The bubble paper is from EK Success.  I used scraps of Wisteria Wonder, robin blue, petal pink, DCWV polka dot xmas paper, and bubble pink swirls.  I used a square punch to make the notches in the flags.  I ripped the blue bubble paper and put it on the opposite corners.  I used a scrap of spatter paper (it sort of looks like stones you would find in a bathroom or spa) and then put the clock made with the Tim Holtz/Sizzix weathered clock behind it all.  The image is Day at the Spa Pixie from PDS and is colored with copic markers, then mounted on a nestabilities scalloped circle.  I used liquid glass on the bubbles after accenting them with a clear stardust gel pen.  I also layered the face and towel wrap using dimensionals.  I added a few pearls to the wrap.  The title is cut from Cricut's Mickey font and Doodletype.  I used some of my washi tape throughout to highlight the things I do when I have time to myself.  Thanks for looking!  April

Harry Potter SMASH

So I was picking through some colored images I had and was inspired to join Pixie Dust Studio for this week's "Double the Fun" challenge.  Instead of a card, I decided to do a spread in my SMASH album.  I have posted a Twilight page and decided Harry needed one of his own as one of my favorite series. 

My spread uses the bottles pages in the black SMASH album with layers of Moxxie HP designer paper.  The strips are the same sheet of paper, just the opposite side.  I ripped or used a square punch to make the edges of the strips.  The strip above the Horcrux fram is shaped into a banner by folding under a small portion on each end.  I printed the Horcrux list on cardstock using Lumos font found at dafont.com.  The frames, Goblet of Fire, Hogwarts logo, and Magical People sign are from Creative Imaginations HP line diecuts packet.  The wand, sorting hat, and title are from Moxxie's HP rub ons.  The potion bottles and Ministry of Magic seal are from Creative Imaginations HP licensed cardstock stickers.  I also added my HP7 ticket stub.  The images are PDS Harry, Ron & Hermoine and are colored with copic.  I used my SMASH date stamp with some Timber Staz-On to add the date at the top.  Thanks for looking!  April

Pixie Dust Studio "Breaking Dawn" Hop

Our friends at Pixie Dust Studio Challenge decided to celebrate the newest Twilight Saga movie by having a blog hop!  Our task:  create a project using PDS Twilight images and use red, black, white or silver and add some sparkle.  You should be arriving from Cheryl's blog.

Fire & Ice, Wolf Jacob, tent & True Love digis

I have had this paint can sitting around, so I used some Jet Black Staz-On to ink it up.  All images are colored in copic markers.  The lid has the "And so the lion fell in love with the lamb" quote printed in Twilight font and combined with the lion and lamb (True Love) digi.  The side of the can is the Eclipse camp site scene.  Edward and Jacob (Fire and Ice) are fighting for Bella's (Eclipse Bella) attention in front of the tent, while Seth (Wolf Jacob image shrunk and flipped) sits at Edward's side and Victoria (not shown) is off to the side biding her time.  I used some snow paint to add some dimension and ground the characters to the scene.  The other images are Edward and Bella (Marry Me...Bella) and the meadow (Love Sparkles).
Edward's skin is sparkling with Spica pen, but I couldn't get it to show in the photos.  I also have quotes that go with the scenes.  I used bits of the challenge color ribbon and a "twilight" icon keychain to finish the piece.

Too Ghoul for School

This is for Deconstructed Sketch #17, Stamptacular Sunday's The Sky's the Limit, Stamp Something's September digi, and Pixie Dust Studio's Back to School challenges.

The base is Basic Black with layers of Old Olive and retired SU Cast a Spell designer paper.  The image is cheer pixie from PDS and is colored with copic markers, then dimmed by going over top with W1.  Wound details were added with sharpies.  The gate is a Martha Stewart border punch wrapped with floss and topped with a black gem.  The image is mounted on dimensionals.  The sentiment is printed on cardstock with Creating Keepsake's chiller font, punched with a wide oval punch and mounted on an Old Olive decorative label punch, mounted on dimensionals.  Thanks for looking!  April

Have a Magical Day!

This is for Pixie Dust Studio's Tag Your It! challenge.

 

The card is designed to fit a business size envelope and is approximately 4x9.  The base is Pumpkin Pie with layers of Old Olive and retired Cast a Spell paper.  The Old Olive layer is punched using Martha Stewart's Drippy Goo punch.  Images are the PDS's Harry Potter pets colored in copic markers.  They are sized to roughly 2.25" each.  I wraped a scrap of plum ribbon around the edges of card and then made the tags with Cricut's Tags, Bags, Boxes and more at 1".  Next, I wrote the names of each pet with and ultra fine journalling pen, threaded with a bit of floss, then attached to the card with a tiny safety pin.  Last a silver brad on each corner, finishes the card.  Inside, the sentiment is "Have a Magical Day!" in Lumos font from dafont.com, punched using the decorative label punch and mounted on dimensionals.  Thanks for looking!  April

Tween-age Dream

This is for Pixie Dust Studios Tween-Teen Dream challenge. 

The base is Basic Black with layers of Whisper White and patterned paper by Provo Craft's Easter scrap pad.  The border is Martha Stewart.  The image is Sugar Plum Fairy from PDS and is colored in copic markers on Southworth coverstock, then mounted with dimensionals.  Finishing the card is some ribbon tied with a black button and twine.  Inside, I used scraps and the sentiment was typed in cardstock in Comic Sans font, punched with the decorative label punch, and mounted with dimensionals.  Quick and simple.  Thanks for looking!  April

Magical Birthday

This is for Pixie Dust Studio's Boys will be Boys challenge. 

The base is Whisper White with layers of Basic Black and scraps of light blue and discontinued flocked griffin paper from Michaels.  I used the spiral notebook border punch on a scrap of blue, then sewed all the layers.  The middle piece is sewn, wrapped with Early Espresso baker's twine and mounted with dimensionals.  The image is PDS Dumbledore and is colored with copic markers and mounted with dimensionals.  The sentiment was printed on cardstock, cut and embossed with nestabilities deckled rectangle.  Finally, I used mini glue dots to mount the star jewels I found on clearance at Michael's.  Thanks for looking!  April

Argh! Pirate Monkey

This is for Deconstructed Sketch #13 and Pixie Dust Studio's Anything Goes challenges.
The base is Bravo Burgundy with layers of Basic Black, Basic Grey, and pirate papers from Karen Foster.  The image is PDS Pirate Monkey and is colored with copic markers.  The flourish is wound jute twine that I thought would look like rope or netting from the ship.  The sticker is from Karen Foster and mounted on layered scrap circles, then a gemstone in the center of the compass.  The last piece with a few clear skittles attached at the corners with glue dots.  Thanks for looking!  April

Cast a Spell

This is for Pixie Dust Studio's first sketch challenge. 

Base is Perfect Plum with layers of retired Cast a Spell DSP and Basic Black.  The black is punched using Martha Stewart's drippy goo border punch.  The image is PDS witch and is the second image I have colored (you can tell by her hair!!!) using copic markers on Neenah Solar White.  The ribbon is satin ribbon from Michael's dollar section.  I added a twine bow to her broom, as well as the buttons along the side.  The sentiment is stamped in Jet Black and uses the Studio g mini alphabet from Michael's and is punched using 1 1/4" circle punch on layers of DSP punched with 1 3/8" and 1 1/2" circles and placed on a Basic Black scalloped circle mounted on dimensionals.  Thanks for looking!  April

Fixing an oops...

So I mentioned that I made a mistake in misjudging the size of that window I made for the Christmas card, right?  Here I had a finished base and nothing to use on it...LOL.  So I went to my stash of images I have been practicing copic on and pulled this super cute image from Pixie Dust Studio - King Wink.  Isn't he darling?  I simply matted him on a scrap of Marina Mist and used a scrap of Whisper White to punch the card suit border from EK Success.  The button is tied with some heavy embroidery thread and attached iwth a glue dot.  The sentiment is punched with the SU word window punch and inked with Wisteria Wonder.  Super fast and cute to boot.  Thanks for looking!  April

Sweet Pea

This is for Pixie Dust Studios Girly Girl and Pink Elephant's photo inspiration challenges.

The base is in a retired SU color with layers of Whisper White and printed paper from a stack.  The scallop is cut from Cricut's Mini Monograms at 4/75".  I pierced the scallop by hand.  The circles are cut with Nestabilities and I embossed the one with the image.  The image is the baby pea from PDS and is my first attempt at using copic markers.  (It was before I took the class, but can't bring myself to throw it out...LOL)  I used a bit of white organza ribbon and layered it with a pink button and the sentiment.  The sentiment is stamped with Studio g mini alphabet stamps from Michael's in Jet Black Staz-On, then punched using SU's word window punch.  I finished it off by adding a few pearls along the circle.  Thanks for looking!  April

Lion Pride

My son is finishing summer school, so I wanted to give his teachers a little treat.  I found these little brag books on clearance for just $1.50 at Michael's and decided to alter them.

The print was already on the edge with the spiral binding, so I just added the layers of black and red paper.  I used the paw print border punch from EK Success on the red layer.  The image is the cheerleading pixie from PDS and is colored in watercolor pencils and sharpie markers.  I used the oval nestabilities to cut the image.  The title is printed on stickers from Studio g and come 4 on a sheet.  I used Ravvi font and then stamped the pawprint with Blazing Red Staz-On.  Thanks for looking!  April
