Sour cream money gifts

My older two wanted money to put towards various needs so I told the grandparents I would package it up.  Here is what I came up with...sour cream containers!  They are stupid-easy to make too.  Just cut a strip of paper, using your gift as a guide.  Add a strip of tape to the short end, joining the two ends.  Now you have a tube.  Close one hole flat and seal with some double stick tape.  I also used a crimper to seal.  Drop in the gift, then seal the other end.  Be sure to turn the opposite direction so the are perpendicular.  I went the extra step and put a zipper in mine so the kids could pull a strip and open it without tearing it apart.  I used a doily cut from the Cricut and some scrap red paper to stamp the sentiment with white heat embossing.  Thanks for looking!  April 

Fall Drama Dept Starbucks Cups

Our high school kids are trying their best to make the most out of the limits set for them.  My son is a senior and has lost the spring musical, prom, robotics and many other activities.  They decided to do a online play via Zoom called Clue:Stay Home Edition.  Usually the Drama Booster arrange some fun activities for the kids, like a headshot fundraiser and a candy gram sale (treats are donated by the parents and the audience can by snacks for specific cast members and crew - because teens like sweets more than flowers).  

I volunteered to make a treat to be dropped off on their porch on performance day.  Parents donated to help cover the cost and I ran with it.  I bought color changing Starbucks cups and used my Cricut to design decorations.  Each cup has the cast member's role, MFHS 2020, the Clue logo and their first name.  Boys were cut in a typewriter font and girls in script.  

The finished cups were filled with care instructions, two packs of cocoa, fun size m&ms, a candy cane, and candy cane spoon.  Each cup was wrapped in a cellophane bag, tied with ribbon.  The kids flipped when the found out they changed color.  Thanks for looking!  April

First Day board

My kids have outgrown the first day of school pictures but I am lucky to make these fun things for my nephew.  I found inspiration on Pinterest, but I adapted a couple of different boards together.  I also chose to make a dry erase board over a chalkboard because the ones at Dollar Tree were pretty small.  Chalkboard were around 5x7 and dry erase are 8.5x11.  I will be honest and say I should have shrunk the title a bit more, making a bit more space on the bottom.  I also had a couple of hiccups with the dots ending up sticking wrong.  As I used permanent vinyl, I worked around it.  Oh well, mistakes are part of the crafting.  Thanks for looking and see you next time!  April

Mickey subway art

This second subway art canvas was made for my youngest.  He is a huge Mickey fan and I wanted something to put over his desk.  It uses images found on the internet, as well as the Mickey font Cricut cartridge.  Again, I used the Jennifer Maker tutorial to create the canvas.  Thanks for looking!  April

All About Me album

Ginger, at My Sisters Scrapper, made an adorable Disney mini envelope album.  I followed her tutorial and made one of my own.  I liked the format so well, I used it as an excuse to cull some of my paper hoarding.  

This album is made using papers from Stampin Up's retired Class Act papers from their old Simply Scrappin line...yep, that paper is probably more than 5 years old and moved to three different states!

Colors include: Basic Black, Basic Grey, Whisper White, Crushed Curry, Bashful Blue, and Real Red.  

All the rounded flaps are cards that come out of the album and every page features a flip of pocket with extra storage inside.  I made cards for many of the pockets where school pics or memories can be stored.

Grad Announcement

Our oldest is graduating from high school next month an she was less then impressed with the school's stuffy announcements (and Dad was less impressed with the cost).  She asked me to see what I could do, as I had already made her thank you cards several months ago. 
Since she plans to major in Animation, I thought it should represent her artsy side.  I used the same stamps as I did for her thank yous and went with the same basic design.  The stamps are retired Stampin Up's Extreme Elements and stamped in Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, with Pumpkin Pie, Gumball Green, and Blackberry Bliss. 
The outside of the card is her grad info, printed on vellum using Harry Potter Lumos font from dafont.com and adhered to the front with washi tape.  Inside the card (not shown) is her senior photo and details for her open house.  I added a few smaller spatters of color using the welcome Stampin Up My Paper Pumpkin set. 
I finished it by stamping the envelopes in the small spatter print.

Birthday Treat topper

This was for my son's friend's birthday.  The fancy edge is one of the Tim Holtz border dies.  I used the Cuttlebug dominoes embossing folder and the die/emboss stamps came with my Cuttlebug and are mounted with dimensionals.  It's the first time I broke them out and, gosh, are they cute!  Colors are cranberry from Recollections, Only Orange, Brilliant Blue, and Whisper White from Stampin Up.  The baker's twine I got on a huge spool from TJ Maxx for $3.  Thanks for looking!  April

Grunge Rock Birthday

This is a card for a child's birthday.  I used red cardstock as a base, stamping Extreme Elements stamps in Blazing Red Staz-On and Platnum Planet Brilliance Pigment inks.  Next is layers of scrap black and white cardstocks.  I stamped the sentiment from Grunge Rock in Jet Black Staz-On, then the guitar on scrap paper before cutting it out.  The guitar is mounted on dimensionals with a bit of scrap red baker's twine bow for decoration.  Last, is a gold wax seal to finish the look.  Thanks for looking!  April

Pressed Penny coin holder

Happy Easter!

So I found this idea on Pinterest for a way to have money ready for those pressed penny machines that you find in tourist traps.  Since we are getting ready for vacation and my kids love to collect pressed pennies all over Disney, keeping them in books.  So, these are made with m&m's mini tube and I used the label as a template for the wrap.  Dimensions are 4.25x5inches for the large tube.  I searched Mickey icons online and repeated it all over the page.  You can fit four wraps to a sheet.  I used Waltograph in yellow and the embossed font feature.  I also added their initial on the top of each tube.  Now, stack the coins two quarters and one shiny penny, alternating all the way up the tube.  The little m&m's tubes can work as well.  Thanks for looking!  April
Update: I have been asked by a couple of people to share a template.  I really didn't make one.  I unwound the label off the tube and measured to figure out the size of paper I would need, then set my margins on the computer to match that.  You can fit up to two on a standard 8.5x11 sheet.  The images were found on Yahoo! images and the font is from dafont.com, set to embossed on the font characteristics.  Hope that helps you!

Class Halloween Treats

These are the treats I made for my youngest child's kindergarten class Halloween party.  I used SU Old Olive and layered it with a basic black square trimmed with the Martha Stewart web border punch.  I then stamped it with a spider from Michael's dollar bin in Versamark and used purple Adirondak embossing powder and heat set.  Next was a white gel pen to make the thread the spider hangs from and Whisper White craft ink to stamp the sentiment from an acrylic October set from Michael's dollar bin.  On the back side, I used a curved die tool to make the notches to hold a coupon for a free item at McDonalds.  (Every year McD's sells these coupon booklets to raise money for their Ronald McDonald House charity.)  I figured they would be full of yummy treats from their party and trick-or-treating, so this would be a fun little thing for later on.  Thanks for looking!  April

Tooth Fairy Boxes

 



These are tooth fairy boxes I made for my kids.  If you haven't already guessed, their Altoid tins that I altered.  First, I sanded the finished top to remove as much of the paint as possible.  It is embossed, so it made it a bit difficult.  I wiped away any residue, then painted the lid with cream acrylic paint.  I used a heat gun to spead things along and crack the finish a bit.  The paper is cut 2 1/4" x 3 5/8" and is stamped using the stars from retired Way to Go in coordinating colors.  The image is the SU retired Tooth Fairy stamp and is colored with copic markers with glittered wings.  It is mounted on scalloped circle and placed on a decorative label with dimensionals.  I used a big bite crop-a-dile to punch a hole off to the side, then made an organza bow to put behind a star brad that is fed through the hole.  Inside is a little poem for the tooth fairy.  Thanks for looking!  April

the "write" stuff



So I wanted to give my daughter some stationery to take to camp.  I doubt she will have much time, but any line of communication is good.  This is a base of Very Vanilla cardstock layered with Chocolate Chip.  The top layer is inked with the faded script stamp from Stampabilities in CTMH's Brown Bag.  The ribbon is from a SU grab bag, so I can't swear on the name but it is the 1 1/4" striped grosgrain.  I think it is too dark to be Real Red, but maybe Cherry Cobbler or Riding Hood Red?  The image is TGF's Flutter Anya and is colored in copic with accents of Sakura Stardust gel pen.  The sentiment is handwritten on the decorative label punch.  Inside are cards stamped in Grunge Rock in the new In Colors: Pool Party, Island Indigo, Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade and Wisteria Wonder using the Grunge Rock stamp set.  Thanks for looking!  April

Ooodles of Doodles

This week's Farm Fresh Friday Throwback challenge is "Anything but a card".  Now, in a throwback, your can't use any newer images and they give you an excluded list.  Think, think, think.  So I was visiting other blogs searching for some brilliant idea and lo and behold....I come across a blog with a coloring book! 

My kids are constantly begging me to print out my digis for them to color, so I busted out the rubber TGF's and started stamping in one of those Michael's dollar notebooks with the little pens.  I ripped off the covers and pulled out some of my SU paper scraps.  This is Peach Parfait and a retired fusha color.  The covers measure 4.5" tall by 6.25ish".  (I say "ish" because one was closer to 1/2".)  I then inked around the edges in cat's eye chalks - Chestnut Roan, Charcoal, Rouge and Fusha.  Next is scraps of Bo Bunny Pep Rally and the pink hearts are from a stack.  I ripped them at an angle, adhered, then sewed around the edge of the cover.  Next, is a quick spritz of smooch in gold, emerald, berry and cosmic pink.  The brown candy ribbon is from Michael's and the other is Night of Navy from SU.  Images are TGF's Later Skater Ian and Anya, colored in Crayola pencils.  I wanted them to look unfinished to go with the coloring book theme.  The sentiment is printed in Comic Sans font, cut and embossed with a nestabilities circle, then stenciled with coordinating colors Lucky Limeade and Purely Pomegrante, then mounted with dimensionals.  I used SU's brights glimmer brads that are slid through a button to make a shank.  I punched holes in the back to run thick embroidery thread through to make a closure.  I didn't want too much dimension on it because it is a coloring book cover.

Grunge Rock birthday

Here is the gift I made from my son's friend. We did the usual candy and video rental gift card. The colors are Poppy Parade, Whisper White and Basic Black. I used the stamps in matching Poppy Parade ink. The inner layers were done separately with Poppy Parade and Jet Black Staz-On. I used the black smooch spritz, but it is really heavy...all that came from one squirt! Oh well. I layered the scalloped circle with 1 1/2 and 1 3/8 circles. I do have both the inset and the scalloped circle with dimensionals.

ATA Belt Rank scrap frame

Here is another framed LO I did for my daughter's friend. They are in tae kwon do together. I did one for her brother for his birthday and she has been asking for one since. I wanted it to be girly, but still reflect her sport, so I looked back at some of the other LOs I have done for my kids. I used the lavender and dark blue I used on Maggie's and the LO is from pageMaps. The printed papers are from Moxxie. The title is stamped in CTMH's "giggle lowercase" in Stampin' Up's Whisper White. I tied a bit of Whisper White grosgrain on the tag. The image is Karate Anya digi from the Greeting Farm.

Mod Podge Frame

I am working on Christmas gifts for the kids friends. Alex asked for a frame of a pic of him and his buddy, Sam. They are both in tae kwon do, so here it is.

It is just bits and pieces I had left from some pages I have done. The cardstock is Brilliant Blue and Real Red from Stampin' Up. The printed papers are Moxxie. The frame is one I got from the clearance isle at Walmart. The coins are from Oriental Trading Company and match the coin-like design on the end paper. Cute, right?

Robot Card

Here is a pic of a card I threw together for a kids birthday. I love this Sprockets & Rockets from Recollections. It has coordinating paper and stamps. I was in a hurry so the cardstock isn't exact, but it is Green Galore from SU. It is stamped in Jet Black Staz-On and colored with watercolor pencils. I used the Xyron stickermaker to adhere the background to the card base. I colored the planet, then used Zig two-way glue to add glitter. The planet is mounted on dimensionals. I added a couple of purple brads on the opposite corner, but they kind of fade into the background. Not my favorite card, but cute for a 20 minute quickie! Thanks for looking...April

Altered Photo Frame & Scrap it with a Song

I had tons of left over Bo Bunny Glee paper that I used on the purse album, so I decided to make my daughter's friend a matching frame. It also doesn't hurt that I can work it into a new Design Challenge from a site a learned about from my friend, Christina...Scrap It With a Song! This weeks theme is True Colors by Cindi Lauper. Okay, I didn't work in the lyrics, but I think there are plenty of colors that are "beautiful like a rainbow."

The frame was an Autumn Leaves that was on clearance at Walmart. I cut the Bo Bunny Back to Basics yellow cardstock to fit the frame, then took some scrap to make the strips on the paper. I used the dark blue chalk ink to ink the edges, then to ink the stamp. I used Mod Podge to adhear to the frame, then put a coat over top. After the frame dried, I used some left over ribbon across the bottom, then attached a prima flower. A cute extra for under $2! So cute and simple to make. Thanks for looking! April

Bo Bunny Purse album & Stamp Something Challenge

Here is a cute Bo Bunny kit I picked up from my local scrapbook store. It's the first time I have tried to finish a book like this and Mod Podge...I had a few bumps in the road, but it turned out cute. It uses Bo Bunny's Glee paper line and the spring ribbons and brads. It's quirky, cute and perfect for a 10 year old! I added some skittles on the cover and used stamps in place of the rub-ons that were not in the kit. I wouldn't have picked some of the papers and embellishments to go together, but I think it turned out really cute!

Also, a shout out to Stamp Something's 2nd Birthday! The challenge is to stamp a birthday project. I stamped some embellishments on a couple of the pages in white chalk ink. Happy Birthday, Stamp Something! Go check them out now! Thanks for looking. April

Tae Kwon Do birthday gift

My son's friend just started TKD, so we thought we would make him a scrapbook page for his wall. The frames are on cheap this week at Michael's...only $3.99! The papers are all stamped backgrounds using "Just for Kicks" from Close to My Heart. The white paper is stamped with Dove Gray Staz-On, the black with Whisper White Craft ink from Stampin' Up, and the red is stamped in Jet Black Staz-On. I typed all the belts on the computer and printed on acid-free paper. The name is cut with Mickey Font on the Cricut. The LO is from Cherish from Close to My Heart and is available at Michael's and bookstores. The karate boy stamp is from Hobby Lobby's wood stamps. I used SU's blender pen and watercolor to color him in. Simple tearing and brads add a finishing touch. Sorry for the glare, but it's hard to avoid with the glass in the frame. Thanks for looking!
