Red SMASH book cover

So I finally finished up my orange SMASH book.  Here is the cover of my new red one I have had stashed away.  This one is a bit different as it came part of a kit and has photo sleeves inside.  I used a left over Cricut cut fan from a past scrap page, a piece of paint sample, a library borrow slip, an old stamp, and some SMASH ephemera.  Thanks for looking!  April

Spotify SMASH page

Spotify sent me this great email with a list of my listening habits, favorite tracks, most listened to artist, etc.  I thought it was a great snapshot of what I listened to over the year and a perfect SMASH page.  I used a SN@P filler card, some SMASH bits and an artist trading card.  The title is Tim Holtz metallic alpha stickers.  Thanks for looking!  April

Hogwarts Letter SMASH page

While I was working on the Harry Potter ornaments, I printed mini Hogwarts acceptance letters to go in my envelopes.  Sadly, they were just a bit too big but I am too much of a pack-rat to toss them out.  I had a wrapper from a Chocolate Frog and some other bits so I put together another SMASH page for Harry.  If you want to see the other one, click here.  Thanks for looking!  April

Gratitude SMASH page

Hallmark sends these greeting cards with coupons and I keep them to reuse.  This thanksgiving themed one became my list of gratitude for this year.  I placed it on the Top 10 page of my Orange SMASH book.  I used a SMASH label maker to make my list and scattered them around the greeting.  Super simple and fun.  Thanks for looking!  April

Stamp Club SMASH page

I am truly missing the art of SMASH...I like some kind of order and find it hard to go over the edges are be super chaotic.  I really like my items on a page to be related or compliment.  This took some real effort for me to keep putting more on the page on this but I like how it looks.  I used my instax mini instant photo to take pics of the Laughing Ladies stamp group.  Sadly, our schedules have prevented us from getting together for several months now, but I enjoyed them.  Sue, our group organizer is a Stampin Up rep, so I included a My Paper Pumpkin graphic, and the Mickey ice cream bar was on one of my monthly swaps.  Thanks for looking!  April

Read 2016 SMASH page

So I have kept a list of books I have read over the last several years and start a new SMASH page each year.  Somehow I missed posting 2015 and will do so later. 

This year is much more list like but I needed to stretch to three pages.  I often will remove pages from my SMASH books when they are getting too bulky.  I just tear them out, then cut off the binder edge.  Sometimes I will use them as background or texture for other layouts and for extending a layout.  To do this, I simply use washi tape and a page that best coordinates.  By cutting off the binding edge, the added page fits right in.  I have done this for my Robert Frost page.  This year, I used washi tape and some cute Heidi Swapp stickers.  Yes, it went onto the back side of the third page...a total of 143 books.  Thanks for looking!  April

Glee SMASH page

I have been neglecting my SMASH book and have several pages I have not had the chance to post, so here they are. 

This is for the show Glee, my guilty pleasure.  I am shocked how many songs from the show I like better than the original versions.  I know the show is no longer on, but I had the idea rolling around and wanted to get it down.  I traced my hand and cut the letters from the Cricut.  I added some journaling and doodled music notes.  I also found a patch at Big Lots for 75 cents.  Thanks for looking!  April

Places SMASH page

I got this great postcard of my favorite DVC resort in one of the sales promotionals and couldn't resist cutting it down to fit my SMASHbook.  I used some cute printables, Recollections brand SMASH stuff, a bit of washi, and some postal themed post-it notes.  The tabs hold journalling cards that pull out on the side and top of the picture.  Super quick and easy.  Thanks for looking!  April

Real Life SMASH page

This is an example of an average summer day in 2013 for my family and I thought it would be fun to look back on years from now.  I used odds and ends from K and Co, Sizzix, DCWV, 7 gypsies, Tim Holtz, SN@P and Stampin Up.  I typed the schedule using Newsman, Batik, and Harrington fonts.  Thanks for looking!  April

Steampunk SMASH

This is a SMASH page I made using some of the parts from the October My Paper Pumpkin.  I mentioned in another post that I ran the chipboard through a Tim Holtz die.  Here is the dressmaker dummy decorated with paper from DCWV.  I made a corset and added crochet lace trim and an embroidery floss bow.  The background papers are also DCWV from the Timless and Performance mat stacks.  I used a doily and kraft tag along with Tim Holtz stickers for the title.  I also used some Tim Holtz gears, tickets, word stick, and keyhole.  Thanks for looking!  April

Read 2014 SMASH

After last year's page got a little overloaded, I decided to simplify this year's reading page.  I used letters from 7gypsies for the title.  I also have hearts punched in cherry.  The library cards are stamped in Not Quite Navy using Lawn Fawn's Check It Out.

Favorite Poet SMASH

 
Robert Frost is my favorite poet.  I have been a fan since I read SE Hinton's The Outsiders in middle school.  I showed you one of the pages I did way back in August, but finally got around to finishing the others.  Nothing Gold Can Stay is on the back of Fire & Ice, and next to the title page when closed.  I did pages for Fire & Ice, The Road Not Taken, and one featuring the man himself and why I like him.  I will be honest and say I don't really like the way Fire & Ice came out.  The flames just are not working for me and the ice part on top is hard to see.  Oh well, we can't do it perfect all the time.  I do really like my design for The Road.  I used copics to create the stone path.  I was going to add a figure on the road, but after rereading the poem, decided it would detract from the meaning.  The title page is just photos I found online and chipboard letters from Tim Holtz and 7gypsies.  Thanks for looking!  April

Yummy SMASH

So I have been collecting things from some of my favorite places and things to eat.  I still have a few spots to fill in, but it's coming along.  I love Friendly's build-a-burger...so many options!  I also fell in love with Orange Leaf fro-yo while on vacation.  I even kept a bowl and cut the spoon handle down to fit on the page.  I am looking for a Chick-Fil-A sticker or something with the cow but I have a receipt with my favorite meal on it.  Those Peppridge Farm cheesecake cookies are to die for!  Thanks for looking!  April

Crafty Love SMASH

I have a couple of favorite brands I just adore for crafting so I decided to make a quick page.  I cut out the icons and samples from a magazine, then added a little blurb about what and why I love those products.  It's not fancy and most is quick notes, but I will have it to remind me of my favorites.  Thanks for looking!  April

 

Nothing Gold SMASH

This is the first of my favorite poems by Robert Frost.  I loved Nothing Gold Can Stay from the first time I read it in The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton in middle school.  It's been 25 years and he is still my all-time favorite poet.  I will be working on SMASH pages for two other poems as well as one dedicated to the man.  Can you guess my two other favorite poems?  (Hint: one was made popular again in a recent book and movie.)

This page was made by adding a page removed from the green SMASH folio, then adding it to the current book with washi tape.  I ran the page through my printer using Batik Regular font.  I used CTMH's Brown Bag ink with SU's retired Season of Friendship for the tree.  The leaves are stamped in Lucky Limeade and Versamark with gold embossing powder.  For the background, I used SU's retired Extreme Elements with Tim Holtz's Distress Inks in Frayed Burlap, Tea Dye, and Vintage Photo.  I also used those inks to ink the edges of the finished page.  Last, I used Caramel Latte and Spun Sugar Smooch Spritz on the page.  I am debating about adding some orange and red leaves, but like the effect for now.  Thanks for looking!  April

Percy Jackson SMASH (In Progress)

This is for TGF's Farm Fresh Friday Anything Goes challenge.
I am still working on it, as I am still working on finding pics or treasures (like coins, book covers, etc), but wanted to get what I have finished posted.  I found this fab pic of a Camp Half-Blood map online and the sign is from a Percy-themed party on Pinterest.  The sneaker and small library cards are from Rebecca at Uprintables.  I used some feathers that escaped from a pillow and a brad to make the flying shoe.  I used a page that I removed from another part of the book, using washi tape to attach, to make a triple page layout.

The characters are from TGF, with a little digital tweeking from me.  All characters are colored in copic markers.  First is Tyson (WS Joseph).  I enlarged him, then erased one eye and moved the other to the middle, before making it bigger.  Next is Annabeth (WS Audrey).  I changed the tongue sticking out to a smile and used Dalek font from dafont.com to write on her shirt.  Percy took some extra work.  His head is Mer Ian and the body is WS Flirty Edward.  I copied the left side of his shirt, flipped the image and moved to the right.  I also added a collar for a tee under the open shirt.  I found an image of Riptide (Anaklusmos) online and shrunk it to the needed size.  Last, but not least is Grover (WS Logan).  He was a rubber stamp and I simply drew in the horn sticking out from under the hoodie.

Summer SMASH

This is for TGF's Farm Fresh Friday Summer, TGF Retro-Fresh layers, and Anyone for Anya's layers challenges. 
All the papers are SN@P 6x6 sheets.  The bingo cards are from one of the sheets cut apart and the sentiment is stamped on a scrap of leftover paper from the reverse side of the paper used on the sun and the bikini.  I tore up some pieces of sandpaper to make a beach-y scene for TGF's Oliver & Amelia from the OA Summer Fun set.  Oliver and Amelia are colored in copic and there is a little liquid glass on Oliver's goggles.  I paper-pieced Oliver's floatie and Ameilia's bikini.  The sun is cut from Cricut's Pooh & Friends shape cartridge at 1 3/4".  The clear tab is a leftover from a Heidi Swapp photo file class I took at Archivers and is attached with Tim Holtz tiny attacher staples.  The little scrabble tiles are a printable I found online.  I added a little baker's twine to the tag.  Last, is used a little bit of Gold Glow Smooch Spritz.

Let It Go SMASH

This is a page that I did that I wanted to play around with more art journal elements instead of scrappy stuff.  I used Tim Holtz tissue tape to form a block and then used a thin coat of sky blue acrylic paint.  I used a bunched up paper towel to sponge on some white acrylic clouds.  After that dried, I used a sharpie to doodle in a frame and sketch the balloon, filling it in with red sharpie.  The first couple of words are Heidi Swapp stickers, then the rest of the lyrics to "Little Wonders" from Rob Thomas on Disney's Meet the Robinsons soundtrack.  The image is from TGF's Miss Anya Lounge and colored in copic markers.  Thanks for looking!  April
